Another quite interesting and extraordinary Kim Ki-Duk movie with a strange ending. One thing i noticed for Kim Ki-Duk works, no matter how odd, sometimes blood-freezing or shocking they are, at the end you just can’t help appreciating the creative mind and the deep talent lying behind.

In “The Bow”, there is a girl found by an old seaman when she was 6 years old and since then they have been living just on a boat in the middle of the sea. The girl is now 16 years old and she has never been stepped on any piece of earth within those years and the old man is the only bridge between the shore and herself.

She seems happy though with the love and care the old man provides for herself. They earn their living with the guests visiting their boat for fishing. While she becomes happy to see new faces on each visit, the old man is always cautious against others as he has other plans in mind, which is in line with the rumour among the fisher guests.

These rumours show the intention of old man which is to get married with the girl when she becomes 17. The girl is totally unaware of what is happening around her; she is just a child cheering even on every small occasion she catches.

Only mistake the old man does in his plans is to ignore that the love for her is not mutual and the chance for the girl to fall for someone else (young as herself) is quite possible.

Although the movie progresses with slow and smooth steps, it points out an abrupt or even weird end, which you will be able to see only after watching the movie [as i am not going to tell you :)].

It can be categorized as an effective drama, so my rate is 4/5.

I do not know how many times i promised myself to eat healthy food only leaving the fast food and acidic drinks aside. Today it was one of those days. When i woke up i had a light breakfast and for dinner i cooked only vegetables. During lunch time i was so hungry that i was stuck between eating pizza+coke and having just some light snack. At last i decided to invent my own light food which is composed of yoghurt, wheat, cornflakes, dry fruits and walnut. It was quite delicious as well as being nutritive 😀

Doesn’t it seem quite appetizing? Apart from being delightful, it also made me overcome my desire for a huge extravaganza pizza. I do not know for how many days i can maintain without any fast food, coke or some heavy dessert but considering the summer is at the door, i should think of myself much more now, right? 😆

Bookmarks…

Being fond of reading, i always have tendency to get more and more books although i have less and less time especially lately. Every night i pick up a book to be read in bed just before sleeping but i always stay behind my target page as the desire to sleep always overcomes!

Meanwhile i found out another tendency of mine, which is to keep bookmarks in various size, shape and design among the pages. I am not one of those readers who can mark the page even with a piece of simple paper or a pen. I always look for a new and an interesting one!  After discovering this “hobby” of mine, friends also started to find quite distinct bookmarks for me. Here is the one gifted last week to me by one of my colleagues which was purchased from Japan.

It is made of golden yellow metal which has a Japanese house figure seen among some tree branches which you can see in the below photo more clearly…

I just loved it. Let me thank my friend here 🙂 And please do not hesitate to share with me the bookmarks you find interesting!

th_Best thing known while working in an office without enough oxgyen for hours is to know that as of 5:30 pm it is weekend 😀 And the second best thing is to make plans for Saturday and Sunday despite it is still Friday 😀

 What can these plans be?!

  • Sleeping as long as you want without hearing an irritating alarm sound waking you up in the middle of a lovely dream…
  • Meeting friends whom you have not seen for ages due to your busy schedule and spending some nice time with them…
  • Going to cinema to catch up with the up-to-date movies which you missed recently…
  • Starting to read one of the books from which you made a pile on your desk buying frequently and reading rarely due to your tired eyelids every night…
  • Cooking delicious food instead of ordering fast food from outside…
  • Doing some cleaning reminding yourself you are a housewife at the same time (this is a must more than a plan though 😆 )

These are the first ones coming into my mind when i think of the weekend. We can enlarge the list adding a long-way travel, visiting relatives, doing shopping, etc. But it is your turn to tell me what is your plan for the weekend! 😀

Today is the birthday of a friend whom i lost long time ago. Our meeting was just a matter of chance life puts forward for most of us and losing his friendship was a matter of fate where chance simply stays back.

Being social by nature, human beings tend to have too many acquaintances among which only some are called as “true friends”. He was one of them, one of those people whose number does not exceed the fingers of a hand.

We did not spend plenty of time together, yet every single minute he provided to me brought a life experience for me. He showed me the face of a good personality yet at the same time gave me the glimpse of a bad person so that i would be prepared in life against them.

He gave me countless hopes yet taking them back one by one in time showing that life does not always give us what we want.

He was there for me most of the time when i need to share a smile or just a cry still being invisible for the other times making me realize that sooner or later we will lose our close ones no matter how bitter the truth is.

He was a model for me to be ambitious in life but also he taught me to let go the things as nothing should be taken too much serious after all life was just a temporary phase, a play where we all act!

Sometimes he was too serious, that was the cold face of life, other times he was a total joker teasing me all the time trying to show me what things i should take serious and pay attention, what other things i should ignore and take easy.

Fighting was our biggest timepass…times spent by discussing, quarrelling, yelling, getting angry or frustrated…but next time we met, we were just two little kids trying to apologize and feeling shy at the same time, which showed me we should of course struggle for what we believe in, for our truths yet we should seek a way to establish peace no matter who is wrong/right.

Sometimes he was disappearing for days, weeks, even months and on his return each time i showed too much anger but now i understand he was just teaching me the feeling of “missing”.

He showed me that in every tear drop there was a story to hear, in every smile there was a feeling waiting to be shared, in every word there was a promise to be fulfilled, in every disappearance there was a return to be expected, in every happy moment there was a wish to keep it forever, in every person there was a life to live…

And for me in every friendship there is him to seek…

Today is a birthday of a friend whom i lost long ago. Most probably he will never see this post, less probably he will see the post but will ignore it. Still;

Thank you for your friendship even if it lasted for a short while…

Thank you for the experiences you helped to pile in my life…

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Last night i was so tired that i fall asleep around 10:30 pm as soon as i got back from the cinema (Hubby and me went to see “The Horsemen” which was not a perfect but an average movie).

When i woke up this morning, the first thing i did was to check the weather and as a matter of chance it was sunny after so many snowy and rainy chain of days. Hence i thought i should not waste this lovely day and planned a visit to my University Campus (Boğaziçi University).

dsc00073

It is located just beside the sea (bosphorus) and full of green fields away from the noisy routine of the city.

So after informing hubby about my plan, we were ready to go in 10 minutes. Taking two busses we were there just in 35 minutes. First we had a breakfast at our favourite cafe during our study years and talked about the past for a while (which made me feel a bit old lol). Then we followed the path going through the campus getting something to read while taking both a body and a mind rest across the sea.

There were too many cats and dogs around as usual, some were sleeping under the sun and the others were running after food as usual:)

dsc00059

Although the weather was a bit windy, it did not stop us from having some sunshine, and the environment had a spring view with all those blossoming trees and colorful flowers.

As i forgat my camera at home, i took all those photos with the camera of my cell phone. Still they do not look so bad, right?

All in all it was a lovely day which i had been missing all throughout those snowy and freezing days. It was like a messenger rendering that the spring was quite near. So as i am quite fed up with winter, my hopes for better days just refreshed:)

On one hand, an old film producer who already lost his popularity within the industry and experiencing the bitter face of bankruptcy.

On the other hand, an accountant whose main work principle is honesty, which keeps him poor all his life and prevents him from marrying her future wife.

When the minds of these two merge in one project, the result is quite tragicomical…Being partners they plan to make a film through an illegal way which is aimed to be shown as legal. And at the core of their plan lies a flop movie that backfires and turns into a big hit causing a turmoil in their lives!

30_drj_1_0502_430xx

In the movie we saw some funny references and teasers to some old movies such as Sholay, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge and Lagaan…

28_drj_1_0502_430xx

The cast (Kunal Khemu, Sonu Sood, Soha Ali Khan, Paresh Rawal) is quite in conformity with the storyline…

All in all it was a good laughter providing some relaxation keeping the audience from any reality, which is a fact which i like most about the comedy genre…

My rate 4/5!
