music-of-chance1What would you give away to gain your freedom back?!

It is the story of a man, his stand to life, his approach to his family, his point of view about the happenings and his patience with the series of events that he is exposed to…

Nasha looks like a lonely man being left by his wife and leaving his only daughter to his sister to be taken care of. He works as a fireman till he finds out that he is inherited some fortune as a result of his father’s death, whom he has never known about. After this relatively lucky event (according to him), he spares some of the money for his daughter’s future and the rest for the feeling of freedom to be led by himself…

He quits his job soon afterwards and hits himself on the roads, new and strange and feeling his car as his home more and more day by day unchaining himself at the same time from a routine-based settled life cycle…

This is when he meets Pozzi and the really interesting part of the book takes a start. Although Pozzi looks just like a child to him by his appearance, he soon finds out that he is an assertive card player. At this point their roads (fates) intersect on the same ambition in order for Pozzi to earn more money and for Nasha to maintain lately gained freedom he has been drenched in so far…

After a card game they participiate (Pozzi as the player and Nasha as the investor), as they consume all the money at the end and as they still owe some amount, they are hired by the other rich players as the constructers (to construct a WALL), which constitutes the main part of the book. After this point Nasha loses his control over the events, the people, the environment, his life and himself…

This was the first book i read by Paul Auster and was not my own choice but the Book Club’s. It was a translation book (I read it in Turkish) and although subject matter is a bit different, I enjoyed the book.

So my rate is 4/5!

i am so happy that i got the chance to see Billu Barber so early as it is almost an impossible dream to obtain hindi movies so easily and early for me (reason is we do not have a bollywood cinema in Turkey plus there is such a low possibility to find a Bollywood movie in a DVD store…yea i can hear you saying unlukcy you:x).

Well i won’t go into the subject matter of the movie considering that you  must already have read countless reviews on some other blogs or sites. So to save you from another “repeat-read”, i just want to share my opinions about the movie.

The cast (Shah Rukh Khan, Irfan Khan, Lara Dutta) together with some special apperances such as Deepika, Kareena and Priyanka makes the movie quite strong and already lessens the percentage of being a flop. If you are a regular viewer of my blog, you already know what i think about SRK’s himself and acting, so naturally i loved the movie but not only due to SRK. Irfan Khan is also very talented as per acting. He just lose and melt in his role forgetting real himself. I haven’t seen a Lara Dutta movie before (except a few videos on youtube) but i liked her as well. She looks pure, her facial expressions carry some kind of peace.  And of course the guests of the movie were breath-taking being both charming and sexy.

What else…

  • Topic of the movie was not so creative or interesting but motivating the humanly feelings to come to surface.
  • Costumes were really cool, especially the dresses Kareena wears during the Marjani part.
  • Songs are catchy. Accelarating the steps and the heartbeats. My favourite from this soundtrack is Mera Love Hit Hit -Highly Recommended.
  • During the scenes when SRK appears, i stopped both blinking and breathing 😆
  • And lastly, during the whole movie i wondered quite a lot what SRK feels when his fans fall off a tree branch and get hurt.

Overall, it is a nice movie, not a flop like Yuvraaj (Sorry Katty and Salman-ji :P). And my rate is 5/5.

slumdogmillionaire_bestpicturei knewww itttttt….i knewwww itttttttttttttttt that this movie would rock the scenes and get the awards…yay!!!!

Today when i went to office my colleagues congratulated me saying that “your relatives got the award” as they consider me Indian rather than Turkish:P Now the DVD of the movie is being circulated in the whole office…Even the ones approaching hindi films with some kind of prejudice are asking from me to borrow it:D Ahhh it seems Turkish streets will be full of “Rahuls”, “Rajs”, “Simrans” or “Anjalis”  soon if i am to lend every favourite movie of mine:P

Oh by the way, i should say a few words about Rahman…well in fact what to say! What he creates is just awesome!

Apart from Slumdog Millionaire, Kate Winslet was my favourite with the movie The Reader and seems my wishes came true one by one when the topic is Oscar. I hope this “wish-realization” process can maintain its magic in other fields as well:)

And the oscar goes to ME, of course, as i was too successful at my guesses:P

P.S.: For the ones who want to read my reviews of Slumdog Millionaire and The Reader, please check here.

Hmmmm…love story…phir bhi…as far as my weak memory remembers, this is the first time i saw a Telugu movie from the beginning to the end and i enjoyed quite much…

The lead role is shared by Siddharth Narayan and  Genelia D’Souza, who are both talented and hence giving the movie some kind of soul and energy.

Mainly it is about a “seems-impossible-love” story. You know the lovers are subjected to a series of obstacles to be overcome at the end of the movie. But in this movie the topic is also intervened by some other sub-topics such as the relation between son and a father, the strength of bond within a family, the clashes between the younger and the older generations, friendship, etc.

Siddu, who has been secured and given everything by his father, now wants to make his own choices  in life, however he does not know how to persuade his father. He behaves different at home and outside. He seems to follow the rules his father sets for him but in fact he is breaking all the rules secretly…One day he is made to engage with a girl his father chooses for him but soon after his engagement he finds the love of his life, Hasini, who becomes a turning point for him to prove himself against his father and to reach his love!!!

Well i liked the movie. I liked the soundtrack as well. Only thing disturbing me in this movie was Hasini’s clothes (bad taste!).Towards the end i found myself crying again…damn i could never help it when i am face to face with a love scene:P

Curious about my rate? If it is a love story, what do you think it would be? Of course 5/5:D

my_bloody_valentine_3d_final_movie_posterFriday night. The clock shows almost 9 pm and i am entrapped within a dark room at least for 2 hours. It is crowded but i cannot see anyone around. My heart is beating faster and faster. I find difficulty in breathing and i am ready to scream until the lights of the cinema saloon are turned on and i burst into laughing seeing my husband wearing those huge 3D glasses:D

My Bloody Valentine is a horror, thriller, suspense or mystery movie. It is a 3D one so that one can get the benefit of each horifying scene more and more. The cast composes of Jensen Ackles, Jaime King, Kerr Smith, Betsy Rue.

kerr-smith-my-bloody-valentine-3-d_8The chains of events take place on a vanetine’s day as the title suggests. Many people are killed on this day just before they were about to have a party at the entrance of a mine, the suspected one is an old miner who has been in coma for years after an accident which caused the death of many other miners. When this miner, Harry Warren, is about to kill Tom Hanniger, he is killed by the police. Tom cannot overcome this incident seeing so many people murdered in the most disgusting and cruel way and gettting face to face with death himself as well. So he vanishes suddenly getting out of town.

000209651He returns after 10 years later on the valentine’s day to find his old girlfriend married to the police chief with a little son and to be accused of the series of murders  which take a start on his return.

After each murder the case gets more and more complicated and the suspected people include even the chief himself.

The movie is not a perfect one as its story basis is not processed pretty well and it has some clear defects as almost every horror movie has. However the way it uses the technology of 3D is one of the best for sure as it takes the breath of audience away with every bloody murder. It is quite tension-giving while feeling the cold blade of the murder kit on your back after all:D

My rate is 3/5!

Errr my rate for Kerr Smith is 5/5! 😛

Director: Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra
Lyrics: Prasoon Joshi
Starring: Abhishek Bachchan, Sonam Kapoor, Om Puri, Divya Dutta
Song Title: Rehna Tu

Rehna Tu Lyrics

Rehna tu hai jaisa tu,
Thoda sa dard tu, thoda sukoon,
Rehna tu hai jaisa tu,
Dheema dheema jhonkha,
Ya fir junoon,
Thoda sa resham tu humdum,
Thoda sa khurdura,
Kabhi to add jaaye ya lad jaaye,
Ya khushbu se bhara,
Tujhe badalna naa chahu,
Ratti bhar bhi sanam,
Bina sawajat, milawat,
Naa zyada naa hi kam,
Tujhe chahun jaisa hai tu,
Mujhe teri baarish mein bheegna hai, ghuljaana hai,
Tujhe chahun jaisa hai tu,
Mujhe teri lapat mein jalna, raakh ho jaana hai..

Tu zakhm de agar,
Marham bhi aake tu lagaye,
Zakhm pe bhi mujhko pyaar aaye,
Dariyaa o dariyaa,
Doobne de mujhe dariyaa,
Doobne de mujhe dariyaa,
Rehna tu hai jaisa tu,
Thoda sa dard tu, thoda sukoon,
Rehna tu hai jaisa tu,
Dheema dheema jhonkha,
Ya fir junoon…

Haath thaam chalna ho,
To dono ke daaye haath sang kaise,
Haath thaam chalna ho,
To dono ke daaye haath sang kaise,
Ek daaya hoga, ek baaya hoga,
Thaam le haath yeh thaam le,
Chalna hai sang thaam le..

Rehna tu hai jaisa tu,
Thoda sa dard tu, thoda sukoon,
Rehna tu hai jaisa tu,
Dheema dheema jhonkha,
Ya fir junoon,
Thoda sa resham tu humdum,
Thoda sa khurdura,
Kabhi to add jaaye ya lad jaaye,
Ya khushbu se bhara,
Tujhe badalna naa chahu,
Ratti bhar bhi sanam,
Bina sawajat, milawat,
Naa zyada naa hi kam,
Tujhe chahun jaisa hai tu,
Mujhe teri baarish mein bheegna hai, ghuljaana hai
Tujhe chahun jaisa hai tu,
Mujhe teri lapat mein jalna, raakh ho jaana hai..

At lasttttt at lastttt the letter which was sent for my birthday from New Delhi has just reached me today after almost 13 days!!! I was so looking forward to it because each letter sent by my friends from India has the traces of Shah Rukh Khan in a way or another 😀

Apart from wishing me for my belated birthday and placing some hindi sentences in between the lines together with their English counterparts as in the way i find it practical (:P), the letter was talking about King Khan as i guessed it….the parts with SRK were a bit tricky though 😀

Well i take this opportunity to thank New Delhi for the kind wishes sent to me, for the long letter written without feeling any boredom and for K-k-k-i-i-i-i-r-r-a-a-n-n saga included in it:)

Brick Lane

48661Yesterday i discovered a marvellous movie just by chance. I had visited my DVD store as usual just to change a DVD which was not working. The DVD guy told me to pick up another movie instead of that one, so i just scanned the shelf in a second and had the glimpse of “Brick Lane”. I had never heard about the movie before but its cover got me!

A seventeen year-old girl (Nazneen) living in Bangladesh, after losing her mom in a suicidal case, is forced to marry an older man whom she never met before and leaves her beloved sister and her home behind to live in UK with his husband. There she turns into a middle-aged woman with two daughters. They seem to have no happiness in their life. They seem to be in need of money. No love as well. And no matter how much Nazneen wants to go back to her homeland, it seems impossible for now. She keeps worrying about her sister more and more after each letter sent by her sister.

When they find the money and the reason to go back home, the consitions look changed for Nazneen now as she is in love with another man. As she discovers some fresh and unfamiliar feelings inside, as she finds out something new in her life, as she comes to know at last what happiness is, now she feels reluctant to go back home.

In the movie we see the conditions of “pardesi” people who have to live in foreign lands by this or that reason, and we  are given the details of endurance, silence, missing, struggle, love, passion, making mistakes, correcting mistakes, priorities in life and above all sacrifice…

It seems Love always changes the conditions!

Rate: 5/5!

Season of Dead Umbrellas…

I woke up early in the morning and hearing the sound of rain hitting on my window i went back to sleep eagerly just hugging my blanket more and more. Then i woke up at noon, yea lazy lamhe….But this time i got out of bed and got dressed to go out for breakfast…

I opened the curtains to see the weather was still rainy and cold. I don’t like umbrellas for no reason, i just don’t feel like carrying them. So again instead of an umbrella i took my cap with me.

The weird thing was that all through the way till the bus stop, i saw at least 10 broken umbrellas left on the roadsides. The wind must have been so strong last night so that so many weak umbrellas lost the game against it.

See the photo below i took this morning. I still don’t like umbrellas but i felt sorry for them after seeing them like that…This winter became the season of dead umbrellas rather than a snowman!

wall5-1024x768It has been such a long time since i watched such a funny bollywood movie. Indeed i do not know how to review this movie as it has everything in it. It has the sina qua non of the bollywood, aka romance, it has comedy, it has action, it has suspense, it has thrill, it has love, it has karate-kungfu, it has Akshay Kumar, it has Depika Padukone, it has fantastic scenes…what else do you look for!?

From one angle it is like an adult version of Karate Kid including comedy items in excess, from another angle it is like fantastic chinese fight art movies such as House of Flying Daggers, or a Bruce Lee movie made by indians. But i should say it does not look like a copy of anything, it has the bits combined within a creative manner.

wall6-1280x1024I loved Akshay Kumar’s acting. His facial expressions, his mimics were just awesome and really funny. Depika was as gorgeous and elegant as ever.

I was in need of laughing for a long while and this movie was like a freshly applied medicine to me…Is there anyone wondering about the rating?? Well, 5/5 for sure:)

SOMETIMES!

morning_walk51Sometimes we should let it go. Sometimes we cannot get any benefit from sticking to some people rather we can only harm ourselves and them. Sometimes we should let the beloved ones to stay away from us, sometimes we should lose them in order to fully understand how precious they are to us, but no guarantee whether you can find them again once you lose them.

Sometimes we should pretend, we should be a different person than we are, so anyone in life needs some theatrical gestures so that we can make people believe in things which are not true. For example, when you say “I don’t love you”, the person across to you should not suspect from the power of your sentence. You should perform it with such a certainty that you can deceive even yourself.

Sometimes we should stay silent no matter how strong storms are devastating us inside. We should not let the volcano burst out but burn ourselves only. We should know to shut up when it is high time. We should listen, digest and keep our lips sealed.

Sometimes we should regret and learn to live with these regrets as there is no escape from them but other times we should forget, forget things, forget people. And sometimes we should remember the best moments within the worst experiences in life.

Sometimes we should write to make the memories engraved on something concrete so that they cannot leave us and fly away.

Sometimes we should lie to protect beloved ones, to show them a better way with the light of a simple, innocent lie.

And sometimes we should just smile for no reason and let the others smile too…
